Chargers Train in Vain, Lose Big to the Falcons

It was another hot day in San Diego.  Over 100 degrees on the field.  And with two undefeated teams playing each other, you would expect some hot game action.  But alas, a competitive game was not to be.  Only one team came to play and they were the Atlanta Falcons, who thoroughly dominated the Chargers.  Matt Ryan’s aerial attack burned the Chargers for three touchdowns and running back Michael Turner rushed for another TD to put the game away in the fourth quarter.

The Chargers tried in vain to sustain any offense, but were stymied by a stingy Falcon defense that forced Philip Rivers into throwing two interceptions.  Not even the return of Ryan Mathews could spark the offense, as he was held to 44 rushing yards and had a devastating fumble at the Atlanta 4-yard line to punctuate the Chargers’ offensive ineptitude.  Final score:  Falcons – 27  Chargers – 3.

Train In Vain – The Clash

Ryan Mathews about to be tackled for a loss, as Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers looks on in vain.

Well it wasn’t a total loss…the Charger Girls were hot! hot! hot!

Let’s begin this week’s coverage of the Charger Girls with the Line Captains:  Lauren P., Lauren O., Natalie and Marissa.

This week’s Charger Girl of the Day has been a consistent performer and has given me exceptional images every week of the season.  A native San Diegan, this week’s CGOTD is a second year veteran, introducing…Angela.

Okay, let’s begin our regular coverage of absolutely gorgeous Charger Girls with Lauren P.’s line: Katie, Paige, Alexis L., Hope and Anjelica.

Up next, Lauren O.’s line: Rachel, Ariel, Meridith, Amanda, Clarisse, and Kylie.

We continue our parade of Charger Girls with Natalie’s line: Nicole, CGOTD Angela, Andrea, Allizon, Kayla, and Erin.

And we conclude our coverage with Marissa’s line: Tawnie, Courtney, Alexa, Katelyn and Starkesha.

The Falcons exposed the weaknesses of the Chargers, namely a mediocre offensive line and a lack of receiving play makers.   There are no Roddy White’s or Julio Jones’es on this team.  Its a blue collar, grind it out offense and sometimes you run into a team that simply sticks it to you.  And that was what happened on Sunday.  The Falcons stuffed the Chargers at the line of scrimmage and burned the Bolt’s defense with sharp, crisp passing plays.

Oh well…the season is still young and there’s a lot of football left to be played.  So let me leave you with a few photos of the Charger Girls during their quarter break.

Until next time.
