Ah, Fall. It’s my favorite time of the year. The weather is cool, the air is crisp and it’s football season. But when daylight savings time ends, photographing the Charger Girls in Qualcomm Stadium becomes problematic. The sun is low in the horizon, which means for at least a quarter and half, shadows cast by the light stanchions create difficult lighting conditions…severe back lighting conditions which lead to contrasty, washed out photos. The lighting is terrible, but over the years, I learned to use a flash to compensate. Frankly, I don’t like the effect, but as an action photographer you have to do, what you have to do.
